Child Safety Standards

Last updated June 2026

velvv is a strictly 18+ dating and social app. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and for child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This page sets out the standards we hold ourselves and our users to, how we prevent abuse, and how we act when we find it.

Our commitment

velvv prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation in every form. This includes, without limitation, child sexual abuse material (CSAM), grooming, sextortion, trafficking, sexualisation of minors, and any attempt to make contact with a minor for a sexual purpose. We comply with all applicable child-safety laws in the regions where velvv operates, and we cooperate with law enforcement.

Adults only (18+)

velvv is built exclusively for adults aged 18 and over. Minors are not permitted to create an account or use the service.

  • We require a date of birth at sign-up and block anyone under 18 (a strict 18+ age gate).
  • Accounts we believe belong to a minor are removed, and the underlying device is restricted from creating further accounts.
  • Identity and face verification ("Verified by velvv") helps confirm that members are real adults.

What is prohibited

The following are strictly forbidden on velvv and result in immediate removal and reporting:

  • Any image, video, text or link that depicts, promotes, or facilitates the sexual abuse or exploitation of a minor (CSAM).
  • Grooming, solicitation, or any attempt to contact or sexualise a person under 18.
  • Sextortion, trafficking, or the sale or advertisement of minors.
  • Content that sexualises minors, including artificial, animated, or AI-generated material.
  • Sharing, requesting, or linking to such material anywhere in the app — profiles, reels, chats, calls, or business listings.

How we prevent abuse

  • Age gating. A strict 18+ date-of-birth check at sign-up, enforced again on profile changes.
  • Verification. Optional face + liveness verification and a one-account-per-device / one-account-per-phone guard to deter fake and repeat accounts.
  • Moderation. A review team handles reports and can remove content and accounts. Profile photos and reported content are reviewable by moderators.
  • Safer messaging. In-chat guards flag and limit suspicious behaviour, and screenshot/recording of chats, one-time photos and calls is detected and blocked.
  • Reporting tools. Every profile, message, reel and venue can be reported in one tap.
  • Account action. We suspend, ban, and preserve evidence for accounts involved in CSAE.

Reporting in the app

velvv lets users report child-safety concerns directly inside the app. Tap the ⋯ menu or the Report action on any profile, message, reel, call or venue, choose the reason, and submit. Reports about child safety are prioritised by our moderation team. You can also email us at any time (see Contact).

Reporting to authorities

velvv complies with all relevant child-safety laws and reports apparent CSAE to the appropriate regional and national authorities. We report child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or the relevant local authority, and we cooperate with law-enforcement requests. We preserve relevant data as required by law to support investigations.

Enforcement

Accounts found to be involved in CSAE are removed and permanently banned, the content is deleted from public view and preserved for reporting, and the matter is escalated to the authorities described above. Attempting to evade a ban (new accounts, new devices) is itself a violation.

Contact

Our designated point of contact for child-safety and CSAM-prevention matters is reachable at safety@velvv.com. This contact is able to speak to velvv's CSAM-prevention practices and compliance. For general questions, email hello@velvv.com.
